This machine is a modest construction mech from the "Operation Rimfire" Mekton adventure. It was originally designed with a head, but that was scrapped -- a vast improvement.

The plasma cutter is for carving valuable ore out of the rock. The micromani(ulator)s are for picking up and/or operating small items better suited to the human hand. The 75mm shotgun is an add-on, in cases where this unit's base of operations (in this case, a lunar mining facility) comes under attack.

Now this, this brings back memories. It's been forever since I played Operation Rimfire. Given the scenario in which it appears, this thing is badass. I had to work at avoiding a total party kill.

But what was Most Awesome about the Otto was the fact that it was clearly a jack-of-all-trades machine. Ground? Got it. Space? You're covered. Construction? Taken care off. Combat? Present and accounted for. In that respect, it was a shame that the Otto didn't appear in more places.

Fascinating. That's the first time I've seen anyone sing the Otto's praises. I'm glad you liked it though! Originally, I designed this Mek with a head, and when the editor saw it, he said "I hate it... but if you remove the head I'll love it." So that's what I did. :-)

Dropping the head was a good call. (Besides Mekton never did figure out what they wanted to do with heads.) It looks good this way.

Ooh, I love this design. You don't often see that kind of cockpit with a humanoid frame. I like that a lot.
